Hi! I am the founder of a.b.c. Advocation, Ashley F. Patterson. I am pictured here with my inspiration :) Annabelle, now aged 9 (almost 10, she would say) was born at just 23 weeks and 5 days gestation. She weighed 610 grams at birth, roughly 1 pound and 6 ounces. Her NICU
stay was 142 days during which time our family became her voice, navigating and advocating, for her. It made us all stronger, better,
smarter. I knew there was a greater purpose to it all. We kept the faith.... and we educated ourselves, continuously. Now, we serve
other families navigating the complicated worlds of medical stays, educational and community resources, and those trying to best
advocate for themselves or their loved ones. Over 20 years experience in teaching, specializing in Special Educational needs, gifted resources,
home-schooling consultation, and specialized tutoring / test prep.

Ashley F. Patterson, far right, graduated from the University of Virginia with a Master's of Teaching, specializing in Special Education. She also received her Bachelor's in Classics, specializing in Ancient Greek and Latin. Her teaching career has taken her to Chicago, IL, to Va. Beach, VA, through Northern Virginia and back to her native Hanover County, VA, where she currently resides with her husband and four children. After over 20 years teaching and advocating for her family and students, the transition to Advocation and Consultation has been to service those
who need assistance navigating the school systems and sometimes, the medical systems of our communities.
